Camera Calibration by Vanishing Lines for 3-D Computer Vision
نویسندگان
چکیده
A new approach to camera calibration by vanishing lines is proposed. Calibrated parameters include the orientation, the position, and the focal length of a camera. A hexagon is employed as the calibration target to generate a vanishing line of the ground plane from its projected image. It is shown that the vanishing line includes useful geometric hints about the camera orientation parameters and the focal length, from which the orientation parameters can be solved easily and analytically. And the camera position parameters can be calibrated by the use of related geometric projective relationships. The simplicity of the target eliminates the complexity of the environment setup and simplifies the feature extraction in relevant image processing. The calibration formulas are also simple to compute. Experimental results show the feasibility of the proposed approach.

Pin-hole Modelled Camera Calibration from a Single Image
Camera calibration from a single image is of importance in computer vision. It requires a priori scene information. In recent years, some methods have been studied to solve this problem. One approach is to adopt the idea of using vanishing points and vanishing lines. Circles and balls are also introduced for the calibration target. Besides, symmetry and coplanar points and lines can be applied ...
متن کاملA New Approach for Vanishing Line Estimation
In photogrammetry and computer vision, retrieving object space information from images remains a fundamental task and numerous efforts have been dedicated to this specific topic. It is revealed in recent research papers that vanishing points and vanishing lines provide clues about the structures of the object space. A variety of approaches have been proposed either for single-camera systems or ...
متن کاملCamera Calibration Combining Images with Two Vanishing Points
Single image calibration is a fundamental task in photogrammetry and computer vision. It is known that camera constant and principal point can be recovered using exclusively the vanishing points of three orthogonal directions. Yet, three reliable and well-distributed vanishing points are not always available. On the other hand, two vanishing points basically allow only estimation of the camera ...
متن کاملA new camera calibration method from vanishing points in a vision system
The problem of finding intrinsic parameters of a camera is extremely important for practical applications. In this paper, we present an approach for automatic estimation of intrinsic parameters from images by using the vanishing points in orthogonal directions. Firstly, image lines are extracted and clustered into groups corresponding to three dominant vanishing points. Secondly, the intrinsic ...
متن کاملCamera Calibration for Urban Traffic Scenes: Practical Issues and a Robust Approach
1 Video-based collection of traffic data is on the rise. Camera calibration is a necessary step in all 2 applications to recover the real-world positions of the road users of interest that appear in the 3 video. Camera calibration can be performed based on feature correspondences between the real4 world space and image space as well as appearances of parallel lines in the image space. In urban ...
